RESPECT acknowledges the challenges faced by female artists and provides advice and skills enabling you to rise up to those challenges. The School Event is targeted to Year 10, 11 and 12 female students who want to pursue a career in Music and the Creative Industries.

This event is presented by TAFE NSW Newcastle and www. newcastlelive.com.au The event will have a number of elements including TED-X style presentations by professional female artists and technicians covering topics that are important for anyone working in music and the creative industries.
Our guests will cover the following :
• discovering your voice/identity through song-writing • the importance of being versatile as a performer • overcoming blocks to productivity • being the ‘only’ girl in the room • finding your crew through networking and collaboration • diversity is more than a point of difference
There will be performances by local emerging female artists and Q&A featuring a panel of professional female artists and technicians.
To cap off the day there will be screening of Her Sounds, Her Story: a documentary reflecting the true diversity of today's Australian music landscape showcasing charismatic, funny and fiercely creative women and demonstrating the power of women coming together to support one another.
